Lifelong resident of Forge Village

Vera A.(Halko) Arling, 84, of Westford, passed away peacefully at the Life Care Center of Acton on December 24, 2009.
She was born in Forge Village (Westford), MA on November 16, 1925 where she lived her entire life. She was the daughter of the late Wasil and Dora (Chweschenko) Halko. She was a graduate of Westford Academy and was employed by the Murray Printing Company as a payroll clerk from 1962 until her retirement in 1987.
Vera leaves behind her beloved husband, Robert H. Arling with whom she was very happily married to for 38 years. In their earlier years, they enjoyed going to bingo several times a week.
She was one of five children and is survived by two sisters, Helen Buckingham of Nashua, NH and Sophie Macaluso of Nevada . She was also the beloved sister to the late Anne Corosa of Nashua, NH and her beloved brother the late Walter Halko of York, Maine. Vera will be dearly missed by her three children, Barbara (Van Strien) Kovalchek and her husband David of Westford, Steven Van Strien of Westford and Debora (Van Strien) Gaynor and her husband Steve of Springfield, MO. She will also be dearly missed by her three grand-children David Kovalchek of Hudson, NH, Sheri Kovalchek of Westford and Rebecca Sweetser of Springfield, MO, her two great-grand children David Kovalchek of Westford, and Delayni Kovalchek of Hudson, NH and her two nephews William Corosa and Kenneth Buckingham, both of Nashua, NH.

  Services:
A funeral service will be held at St. Mark’s Church, Cold Spring Road, Westford on Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at 10:00 A.M. A private family burial will follow.
