  Obituary:
Robert Connell, a lifelong resident of the Forge Village section of Westford, MA., died peacefully on March 3, 2010 after a long illness.

Bob was born in Forge Village on March 14, 1925. He was a proud Warld War II Veteran in the US Navy. He was stationed in the Philippine Islands during the war. Upon returning home from the war he helped build and establish the VFW Post in Forge Village with other local veterans.

He was married to his beloved wife Marjorie (Smith) Connell of Westford for 50 years before her passing in November 1999.

He made his living as the U.S. Postmaster of Forge Village and later for the entire town of Westford, MA for over 35 years.

Bob enjoyed ice fishing and was an accomplished and avid gardener who loved nature and being outdoors. One of his many hobbies was making blue bird houses and putting them in various wooded areas around Westford. He loved his home town of Forge Village and was an active participant in The Forge Village Improvement Association. He also volunteered for many community jobs over the years for the town of Westford.

Bob is survived by his daughter Robin Connell of Westford and three sons Steven H. and his wife Jane Connell of Westford, Allan S. and his wife Terry Connell of Southold NY, Anthony R. Connell and his wife Maureen Mullen of Andover, MA.

He leaves six grandchildren Jillian and Alex Connell of Westford, Devin and Patrick Connell of Andover MA, Christopher Connell and his wife Sara of Oslo, Norway and Allyson Greene and her husband Mike of Mableton GA and 2 great grandchildren Mary Kate Greene and Sophie Ann Connell.

He also leaves a sister J. Patricia Hartley of Chelmsford and a brother Frederick Connell who resides in Florida as well as many nieces and nephews.
  Visitations:  
Calling hours will take place Friday, March 5, 2010 from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the J. A. Healy Sons Funeral Home.
  Services:  
A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 6th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine's Cemetery.
