Allen R. Rose
Retired Construction Worker and Vocational Educator

Allen R. Rose, 72, of Westford, died March 7, 2010. He was the husband of Cora L. (Picking) Rose with whom he celebrated their 37th anniversary in February. He was born in Taunton, Massachusetts on June 8, 1937. A son of the late Albert and Alveida (Dias) Rose.

Mr. Rose was a veteran of the Korean War era. He served four years in the U. S. Army as a paratrooper and was awarded the parachutist badge and the National Defense Medal. After his Honorable Discharge in 1958, he resumed his education and graduated from Fitchburg State College with a degree in Vocational Education.

He worked as a welder for thirty years. For more than eight of those years he worked for the Bechtel Corporation in the construction of Nuclear Powered Electricity Plants. As a Vocational Educator he had worked for Greater Lowell Regional Vocational School, Leominster Center for Technical Education and in the Adult Evening Program at Blackstone Regional Vocational School. He was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and had been a member of the American Welding Society for more than thirty years. Besides his wife, he is survived by his grandson, his daughter-in-law and his two sons: Richard A Rose of Westford and Stephen P. Rose his wife Wiolettka and their son Thomas. He was also the brother of Mrs. Norman (Marilyn) Walker of Huntsville Alabama, Kenneth rose of Taunton MA, the late Mrs. John (Janis) Hartnett of North Chelmsford MA and the Late James Rose of Dorchester MA. Other survivors include several nieces and nephews.
  Visitations:  
Visiting hours will be Wednesday, March 10th from 3:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Healy Funeral Home.
  Services:  
His funeral service will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, March 11th at 10:00 A.M. Burial to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Westford.

In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may make donations in Allen's memory to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen Street, Framingham MA. 01701.
