 Obituary:Chesley A. "Chet" "Coach" Steele, Sr. of Westford, husband of the late Yvonne K. (Zoller) Steele, died February 4th, 2011 in Spring Hill FL. He was born in Waldoboro, ME August 31st, 1926, a son of the late Minnie (Chickering) and the late Floyd H. Steele. He attended Springfield College, Springfield MA majoring in Science Education and earned Masters in Guidance at Salem State University. He served in the United States Navy as Seaman, 2nd Class and was Honorably Discharged June 13th, 1946, and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal for his service. Coach Steele was the physical education teacher, wrestling and head football coach for 15 years at Westford Academy. For another 16 years he was the physical education director and head football coach at Ayer High School. He also refereed high school wrestling for 15 years in surrounding towns. He is survived by two sons; Chesley A. Steele, Jr. and his wife Julie of Fort Lauderdale FL, Ronald A. Steele and his wife Cheryl of Weeki Wachee FL, and a daughter Sherry Lynn Steele-Strickland of Westford, five grandchildren; Chesley A. (Lee) Steele, III, Clifton H. Steele, Crystal MacPhee, Heather Steele, Justin C. Strickland, and John Dakota Strickland, three great grandchildren; Chesley A. Steele (Alex), IV, Samantha Steele, and Jacob Steele, and two brothers; Paul Steele and Gerald Steele and his wife Barbara of ME. |

| Visitations: Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Feb. 10 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Healy Funeral Home. |

| Services: His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, Feb 11 at the Funeral Home. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Westford. |
