Aino K Ure, age 95, of Chelmsford, formerly of Delmar, N.Y, passed away on April 24, 2025. She was preceded in death by her dear husband of 63 years, Vernon H. Ure. Devoted mother of Donna Ure Dugas and her husband Steven of Westford, MA. Proud grandmother of Jeffrey Vernon Dugas and his wife Danielle Porfido of Oakland, N.J. and Kristen Marie Cartwright and her husband David Cartwright of Burlington, MA. Joyously proud great grandmother of Jack Vernon Porfido-Dugas of Oakland, N.J. Dear sister-in-law of Lynn F. Ure and his wife Pegge of Layton, UT and Linda Dorman of Oak Island, NC. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews and many cousins in Finland.
Aino was born in Saarijarvi, Finland to Hilja and Matti Kivela and came to the United States when she was 5 months old. She was raised in Springfield, VT and a graduate of Springfield High School. She graduated from Becker Junior College and held many secretarial positions throughout her career. Her husband’s Army service and career brought her to San Antonio, TX, Lowell, MA, Glens Falls, NY, and Delmar NY until spending the last 45 years in Chelmsford. She was a 3rd degree member of the Ladies of Kaleva, Tupa #42 in Maynard, MA, celebrating and honoring her Finnish heritage. She was a sincere and generous friend to all who knew her.
Family and friends are warmly invited to attend her Memorial Visitation at the Westford Healy Funeral Home, 57 N. Main St, Westford, MA on Wednesday, April 30 at 10 am until 11am. A prayer service will follow at 11am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, kindly make a donation to the Chelmsford Senior Center Meals on Wheels Program, 75 Groton Road, North Chelmsford, MA 01863-1760.
