Ann Bickley Lyons

Ann Bickley Lyons died at Westford House in Westford, Massachusetts on January 23, 2013. She was eighty-one years old. Ann was born on ValentineÕs Day in 1931 at Flower Fifth Avenue Hospital in New York City where her father, Dr. Emil Bickley, was an attending physician. Ann was a graduate of the Riverdale Country Day School, and the University of Colorado. In 1956 she married William Lyons and they lived in Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles and Irvington, New York. In 1970 she reinvented herself as a secretary and moved to New York City to work at the Conde Nast Corporation. Later she moved to Monterey, California and Cambridge, Massachusetts. She spent the last two years of her life at Westford House so that she could be near her granddaughter, Rachel. In her youth she loved to ride horses. She skied throughout her college years. Later, she enjoyed traveling, including a solo trip to Russia in the early nineties. She was a wonderful correspondent, maintaining a voluminous correspondence with friends and family members. Ann is survived by her daughter, Pamela Lyons of Lexington, Massachusetts, and her granddaughters Gudrun Lowenhaupt of Chicago and Rachel Snell of Westford. Her brother, Robert Bickley of Portland, Oregon also survives her as well as her nieces, Suzanne Bickley of Salem, Massachusetts and Michelle Bickley of Portland, Oregon, and her great-nice Edme Guetschow-Bickley. She was predeceased by her older brother, Emil Bickley.The services are private.
