Barbara J. (Elson) Barrett, age 85, passed away on Monday, Dec. 18, 2017, surrounded by her loving family. For sixty three years, she was the beloved wife of James M. Barrett.She was born in Shenandoah, Iowa on May 4, 1932, a daughter of the late Fred and Carrie (Browning) Elson. Barbara was raised in Iowa and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, IA. After graduation she went to Washington, DC to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation where she met James who was attending the Naval Academy. She was a long time resident of Westford, Ma.Barbara had many interests and loved to be active. She was kind and generous, especially to those in need. Her greatest joy was her family; her constant support provided us with strength. She was a bright light in our life and she will be with us always.Besides her loving husband, she is survived by her children, Linda Hill and her husband, Bob, of Tyngsborough, Timothy Barrett of Carlisle, Shelley Barrett of Belmont, James BarrettJr. and his partner, Kelly Risdon Corricelli, of Groton, and Brandon Barrett and his wife, Susanne, of Bedford, NH; nine grandchildren, Bob, Kimberly and Carrie Hill of Tyngsborough, Jon Barrett of Carlisle, Catherine Nadir of Revere, Jen and Tim Lovasco of Salem, MA, Cameron Barrett of Danvers, Brooke and Joey Barrett of Bedford, NH; five great grandchildren, Ziyad Nadir, Laila Nadir, Ava Maria Lovasco, Timothy Lovasco and Josephine Lovasco as well as several nieces and nephews. She was a sister of the late Bonnie Ford, Robert Elson and Betty Taylor.ARRANGEMENTS - At her request, Funeral Services will be held privately. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the B Angel Fund for fuel assistance, c/o J.A. Healy & Sons Oil Co., PO Box 305, Westford, MA, 01886. Arrangements are in the care of the J. A.
