Westford

Bruce J. Ryder, 71, of Westford, passed away unexpectedly on June 28, 2026.

Bruce is survived by his beloved wife, Kimberley (O’Clair) Ryder; his daughter, Alyssa Macduff and her husband, Andrew; his son, Cody Ryder and his fiancée, Mackenzie Bennett, and his cherished grandchildren, Jackson, Camden, and Kensley. He also leaves his siblings, Timothy Ryder and his wife, Gerianne, Melinda Zitta and her husband, Robert, Cindy Schoorens and her husband, Michael, and Tammy Kasidakos, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, who will forever remember his kindness, generosity, and a heart big enough to make everyone feel welcome.

He was the son of the late Alfred and Theresa (Poirier) Ryder. A lifelong Westford resident, Bruce graduated from Westford Academy with the Class of 1973, where he proudly competed on the football and wrestling teams. Before retiring in 2020, he worked as a driver for Iron Mountain.

Bruce found his greatest joy in spending time with those he loved and whenever he was near the water. His love of the water began with surfing the waves during family summers in Rhode Island and stayed with him throughout his life, whether he was swimming with his children and grandchildren, casting a fishing line, or sailing on Nabnasset Lake. He was also a devoted steward of Sandy's Beach, where he took pride in caring for the community and welcoming family, friends, and neighbors to the many barbecues he loved to host.

In keeping with Bruce's wishes, private funeral services for immediate family will be held.
