Chester G. Ingalls 76, of Nashua died peacefully in Westford on Oct 24, 2011, beloved husband of the late Shirley Ingalls. Chester was born July 23, 1935 in Lowell and was a lifelong resident of Westford. In 1957 he served in the United States Army at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and served in the Reserves for 6 years until 1963. He met his wife Shirley in Westford in 1958 with whom was married for 51 years. They had three sons and raised them in Westford. Chet was a wire inspector for General Electric for 35 years and a Custodian for the Day School and the town of Westford School Department for 14 years where he retired in 2006 where he had many friends. He also worked at the Princeton Lounge in Chelmsford for many years. Chet was the past President of Kiwanis and a life member of the H. E Fletcher Club where he also had many friends. He enjoyed watching automobile racing and loved to attend his grandchildren's sporting events. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Chester was the son of the late Frank and Katherine Ingalls and grandson of the late George Chester Ingalls and Elizabeth Ingalls who raised him. He is survived by sons and daughter-in-laws Stephen and June Ingalls , Michael and Dawn Ingalls, Joseph and Angela Ingalls all of Westford; Grandchildren Nikki Ingalls and Andy Ingalls of Westford, Lisa Gleason and her husband John of Lowell, Jeff Ingalls of California, Alex Ingalls of Westford, Jaime Gower of Lowell, Sam Ingalls, Mike Gower, Zach Ingalls and Alyssa Ingalls all of Westford; Great grandsons, Tyler Keough and Danny Gleason; a sister Sheila Curley of Westford, a niece Cara Curley, nephews James Curley and Craig Curley as well as many loving brothers-in-law and sisters in-law, nieces and nephews.brA Memorial Service will be held at St. Catherine's Church, 107 North Main Street, Westford on October 31, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. followed by interment of ashes at Westlawn Cemetery in Littleton.In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241-7005.
