Dale P. Orton

Dale P. Orton; beloved mother and grandmother, formerly of Wilbraham, MA passed away peacefully on June 21, 2011. Her husband, Homer Folks Orton predeceased her in 1969. Dale most recently resided at Radius Northwood Healthcare Center in Lowell, Ma. Dale was born in Yonkers, NY on October 19, 1935 to Alma Burrows and Joseph Phillips. She attended Syracuse University, and received her Master's Degree from American International College. Dale was employed as a teacher by the Springfield School System for 31 years. She was a great advocate for people in need. After retiring, Dale enjoyed volunteering in hospitals, nursing homes, and community organizations. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with family and friends, visiting Cape Cod, travel, shopping, knitting, collecting photos and reading novels. Dale also had a fondness for all the dogs in her life. Dale is survived by her daughter Debra Inada of Encinitas, CA and her son Doug and his wife Carol of Westford, MA. She will be greatly missed by her grandchildren, Dustin and Noah Inada, and DJ, Sarah and Tim Orton. Besides her children and grandchildren, Dale is survived by two beloved sisters, Lyn Vail and her husband Peter of Englewood, Florida and Susan Hayes and her husband March Coleman of Washington, D.C. She was the sister-in-law of the late Gary Prescott Hayes. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Janet Fontaine of Atlanta, Georgia and her brother-in-law, Lawrence Orton of Binghamton, NY and many nieces and nephews.brThere will be no visiting hours. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to her Funeral Service on Tuesday, June 28th, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Parish Church United, 48 Main Street, Westford.
