David Day

February 27, 1936 — December 26, 2014

David Sharrocks "Dave" Day, 78, long time resident Westford, passed away on the morning of December 26th, 2014 after a long illness. He was the beloved husband of Carol-Ann (Clyde) Day, his wife of 49 years.

David Day was born in Worcester, MA, the son of the late Harry H. Day and Mildred (McKeown) Day. He grew up on West Street in Leominster and graduated from Leominster High School in 1953. After graduation he joined the U.S. Navy becoming an AE2 with the VA65 squadron, working on the flight decks of the USS ShangriLa (CVA38) and USS Midway (CV41).

After leaving the Navy he worked at the Lowell Gas Company while attending Lowell Technological Institute. He was a member of the Delta Kappa Phi Fraternity and graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1965. After graduation he joined the General Electric Aircraft Engine Group in Lynn where he worked as a Mechanical Engineer for 27 years, retiring in 1993.

David was a devoted family man and member of his community. He volunteered as the Cubmaster of Pack 95 for 8 years and coached each of his sons in the Westford Town League Basketball for over a decade.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Jonathan & Lisa Day, Robert & Alexa Day and Andrew & Kirsten Day; a brother Ronall Day and sister Donna (Day) Ostlund; his nine grandchildren: Ethan, Nathan, Aidan, Logan, James, Ava, Emma, Elizabeth and Warren Day; and many other relatives and friends.

Our thanks to the staff of Palm Center in Chelmsford for their wonderful care during David's final days.

ARRANGEMENTS: According to his wishes, there will be no calling hours. Relatives & Friends are invited to his graveside service on Monday, January 5th at 1:00 pm at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Westford.
