Dorothy M. “Dottie” (Bowes) Woodbury, 83, a resident of Westford, died unexpectedly on Friday, June 27, 2025 at her residence. She was the beloved wife of the late James P. Woodbury, with whom she was married to for 56 years, before his passing in 2020.

Born in Somerville on April 9, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Muriel F. (O’Brien) and Frank Bowes. She was a graduate of Arlington High School, Class of 1960. She retired after 20 years of employment as a service representative for Liberty Mutual Insurance.

Dottie and Jim were always surrounded by their family at their home on Long Sought for Pond in Westford, where everyone was known to gather. She had that special spark that drew everyone to her and her home was a constant place where everyone felt welcome. During the winters, they spent time in Florida with their cousins and friends, where she often took part in line dancing and other events at Orchid Lake Park. Dottie loved playing games, golfing and skiing in North Conway, NH. In the summers she enjoyed an afternoon pontoon boat ride around the lake with her family.

She was a communicant of St. Catherine of Alexandria Church in Westford.

Dottie is survived by her five children whom loved her dearly, Doreen Kane and her husband, Neil of Florida, Linda Wynters and her husband, Rich of Londonderry, NH, Jimmy Woodbury and his wife, Susan of Westford, Susan McKenna and her husband, Bob of Tuftonboro, NH and Rachel Driscoll and her husband, Fred of Danvers; her 15 grandchildren, David and Andrea Kane, John Wynters and his wife, Lauren, Frank Wynters, Jaime Rindo and her husband, Jimmy, Caitlin Comeau and her husband, Myles, Gretchen Woodbury, Alex, Eileen, Elizabeth and Laura McKenna, Jessica Kroes and her husband, Jacob and Kevin, Dillon and Shannon Driscoll; her six great-grandchildren, Sophia, Jack, Toby, Evelyn, Annalise and Will; her two brothers, Robert Bowes and his wife, Elaine of Arlington and Richard Bowes and his wife, Jackie of Westford; her sister, Bonnie Steinmetz of NH; her brother-in-law, Tom Woodbury and his wife, Marcia of Arlington and Joe Woodbury and his wife, Barbara of SC; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was the grandmother of the late Ryan Kane, sister of the late Frankie Bowes and sister-in-law of the late Robert Woodbury and his wife, Gloria.

Family and friends are invited to Dottie’s Celebration of Life on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 from 4 until 7 PM at the WESTFORD HEALY FUNERAL HOME, 57 N Main Street, Westford. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 3rd at 10 AM in BLESSED TRINITY PARISH - ST. CATHERINE OF ALEXANDRIA CHURCH, 107 N Main Street, Westford. Burial will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery, Westford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dottie’s memory to Alzheimer’s Research, http://curealz.org/.
