Elaine Frances (Martin) Magdalenski, a resident of Newburyport, formerly of Westford, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 29, 2025 from complications from dementia. She was 89 years old.
Born June 4, 1936 to the late William and Loretta (Boylen) Martin, she was the sixth child of eight. She lived a full life beginning on the 200 acre family farm in Eastman, Wisconsin. She graduated from Seneca High School, Class of 1954 and St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing in Madison, Wisconsin and began her career as an X-ray technician.
She met her future husband, Fred Magdalenski, an attending nurse anesthetist, in the elevator of the Hospital they were employed. They were married in 1960, moved to Freeport, Illinois and then to Westford, Massachusetts. where they lived for 50 plus years.
Elaine’s life was a testament to her resilience, strength and devotion to her faith, family and friends, whom she loved and cherished. An active parishioner at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, Elaine volunteered in the choir music program and education ministries.
Elaine was talented in many things, not the least being singing, yodeling, scrapbooking, coupon cutting, laundry hanging, storytelling and as a past Future Homemaker of America, sewing and mending.
She found pleasure in music, travel, corresponding with family, attending mass and especially her daily visits by her devoted daughter Carol which never failed to keep her smiling.
Elaine was predeceased by her husband, Fred; her son, David; her brothers, Bill, Leo, Ray and Mark and sister, Joan. She is survived by her daughters, Mary Johnson (Eric), Beth Hulett (Jack) of Chelmsford, Carol of Newburyport and Lisa and daughter-in-law, Tricia of Amesbury; her beloved son, Joe of Salisbury; her two siblings, Marcia Campbell and Ed Martin; her seven grandchildren, Katie, Emily, Will, Noah, Trey, Leah and Arlo; as well a multitude of nieces and nephews.
May her light, love and giving spirit continue to shine brightly through the many lives she touched.
Relatives and friends are invited to Elaine’s Funeral Mass on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 10 AM at BLESSED TRINITY PARISH - ST. CATHERINE OF ALEXANDRIA CHURCH, 107 North Main Street, Westford, MA 01886. Burial to follow in St. Catherine Cemetery, Westford.
