Frances L. (Chambers) Fletcher, 98, a city girl from Quincy turned country girl from Westford, passed away at Aynsley Place in Nashua, NH on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, with her loving family by her side. She was married to Harold A. Fletcher, Sr. in 1953 and enjoyed 55 years of marriage until his death in 2008.
Born in Boston, on September 30, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Roger A. Chambers, Sr. and Marion (Burns) Chambers.
Frances began her career at Massachusetts General Hospital in the dietary department. She followed that position with a 32 year employment as a clerk for the Westford Post Office. She was also the part time Post Master. Following her retirement, she worked for over 25 years at the Westford Walgreen’s in the Hallmark Greetings Card Department.
There were many stories of Fran feeding the fireman after they returned from fires, her husband being a Captain on the Fire Department and following his retirement, served as the Water Superintendent and Water Commissioner in town.
Frances loved the church community of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Westford, and was a member of the Altar Guild, the Women’s Guild, served on many committees and ran many fund raisers, and enjoyed singing with the choir.
She also served as treasurer for the Greater Lowell Walk for Hunger.
Frances leaves three sons, Harold A. Fletcher, Jr. and his wife Deborah of Hudson, NH, Roger D. Fletcher of Clovis, NM and David C. Fletcher and his wife Cindy of Nashua, NH; four granddaughters, nine great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
She was the mother-in-law of the late Linda Fletcher and sister of the late Marion (Chambers) Stewart and Roger A. Chambers, Jr.
Relatives and friends are invited to Fran’s Memorial Visitation on Wednesday, February 11, from 4 until 6 PM at the Westford Healy Funeral Home, 57 N. Main Street, Westford. Funeral Services and Burial will be held in the spring. For those who wish, donations in her name may be made to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 75 Cold Spring Road, Westford, MA 01886 or to the Westford Ambulance Fund, PO Box 197, Westford, MA 01886.
