George A. Moore

George A. Moore, a Westford resident and beloved husband of the late Joan G. (Hawes) Moore, with whom he was married to for 57 years at the time of her death, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital on Friday, January 18, 2019, following a period of declining health. He was 84.

Born in Chelsea on July 9, 1934, he was a son of the late Ira and Dorcas (Thistle) Moore. George grew up in the Boston area before to moving to Westford 50 years ago.

Prior to his retirement, George was employed in the sheet metal industry as a metal fabricator working for Local 17.

George was a homebody. He loved being home puttering around in his yard tending to his vegetable and flower gardens and creating crafts. George was extremely mechanical and could fix anything anyone needed help with. He and Joan enjoyed many visits to Foxwoods Resorts prior to her death in 2013.

Surviving George are his three sons and daughters in law, George I. And Donna Moore of Williamsburg, VA, Stephen E. And Susan Moore of Woburn, Jeffrey A. and Amelia Moore of Westford; seven grandchildren, Alex and his fiancé Julia, Jennifer, Christina, Meaghan, Melissa, Jake, Kaylee; two sisters, Sadie Edwards of Peabody, Dorcas Webber of Deland, FL; also survived by a loving nephew, niece, great nephew and grand nephew. George was also predeceased by his great niece Kimberly Rood.
Relatives and friends will gather to honor and celebrate George on Thursday from 4 until 7 PM at the J.A. HEALY SONS FUNERAL HOME, 57 North Main Street, Westford.
