Gordon Dingwall Dunn, 78, a 54 year resident of Westford, passed away Wednesday, January 4th at his home in Westford. Gordon was born in Boston, MA to the late Gordon and Alice Dingwall Dunn. He was raised and educated in Arlington, MA and attended Arlington High School. While at Arlington High, Gordon played hockey under Coach Eddie Burns. He served with the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. Gordon was an Electrician Instructor at the Nashoba Valley Technical High School for many years until his retirement and also worked as a Volunteer Firefighter in Westford. He was a dedicated teacher and a positive influence on his students throughout the years. During his tenure, Gordon coached Hockey at both Nashoba Tech and Chelmsford High, earning status with the M.I.A.A. in the Coaches Hall of Fame in 2002. He also founded Westford Youth Hockey in the 60s and he was the founding member of the Merrimack Valley Youth Hockey League, bringing the sport of hockey to thousands of Merrimack Valley children. In his free time he was an avid sailer, having sailed the East Coast and earning Navigator's Rating. Gordon was also a member of the Merrimack Valley Power Squadron and a member of the Boston Navigators Club. Gordon leaves his loving wife, Evelyn Dunn of Westford, his children, Scott Dunn and his wife Lorraine of Pepperell, MA, Paul McMahon and his wife Fay of Newton, MA, Jacqueline Marino and her husband Jimmy of Methuen, MA, Sheila Maxwell of Newton, MA, step-sons, Paul Greatorex and his wife Lisa of Edmunds, WA, David Greatorex and his wife Patricia of Scarborough, ME and step-daughter Donna Cote and her husband Mark of Lowell, MA, a brother, Donald Dunn and his wife Saralee of Gloucester and Magnolia, MA, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, January 9 at the J. A. Healy Sons Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, January 10 at 10 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, 10 Church St., Westford. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Westford.Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Westford Fire and Ambulance Fund, 51 Griffin Rd, Westford, MA 01886 or to the VNA of Greater Lowell, 336 Central Street, Lowell, MA 01852.
