Guy (Gaetano) Anthony Sorrentino

October 10, 1933 - November 6, 2025

Guy Anthony Sorrentino, a long time Groton resident, passed away peacefully in the early evening of November 6th at Emerson Hospital less than a month after his 92nd birthday. Guy was a very kind, humble and loving man who thought highly of his birth family and the family he went on to create. Being blessed with long life he was able to enjoy three generations of descendants and always expressed nothing but gratitude for every aspect of his life.

Born in Revere, MA, on October 10, 1933, Guy was the only son of the late Frank and Ursula (Conte) Sorrentino. He enjoyed his childhood in Chelsea where he celebrated his Italian - America heritage. Occasions were centered around family, laughter and great food. He went on to create a beautiful life filled with humility, generosity, and most notably love. As a young man Guy served his country honorably and bravely from 1950-1953 during the Korean war as a Combat Engineer in the Army's 104 Hq 14th Infantry. Guy received a Korean Service Medal with two Bronze stars, United Nations Service Medal, and the AOM-Japan National Defence Service Medal during his service. To this day Guy was in close contact with his Commanding Officer Joseph Amico, who he helped rescue via medivac and fellow service man Louis Linich. More than just being in contact the three friends made numerous efforts to visit each other across the country enjoying time together, war stories, and meeting each others families. In 2022, assisted by his son Glenn, Guy flew to Michigan to visit Joe, and then all three flew to Seattle to meet up with Lou. This was the first time all three had been together since the Medivac during the Korean War. A bit more recently Guy and Joe enjoyed a multi-family, multi-generational New Hampshire beach vacation in the summer of 2024. A true blessing for everyone.

After the war, Guy met the love of his life Emily at work in the mid 1950s where they first became friends through a work sponsored bowling league. Emily insisted being on Guy's team! Both smitten, they were married in June 1957 and honeymooned at the luxurious Fontainebleau Miami Beach. Guy, who had an amazing work-ethic made a career as a successful machinist and provided for his family while Emily took care of their three sons. Guy moved his family from Billerica to Groton, MA in 1971 to offer them a country environment. Having grown up himself in the city, he often referred to his new home as 'in the sticks' and enjoyed watching his sons flourish in Groton. Most notably hearing about adventures in the natural, wooded setting, as well as the irresistibly attractive and nearby MIT Lincoln Lab Observatory grounds. In those days all that was needed was imagination and a little dirt to have a fantastic day. Also, Guy indulged his wife with gardens, animals, and bird seed. Emily, a true bird-lover, fed all the wild birds, adopted a wild goose and a wild mallard duck, and nurtured chickens. Guy always honored his wife through watching and feeding the birds. Guy's fondest memories include spending time in Ogunquit, Maine with his wife and family. Throughout his life, the most special moments include succulent Lobster and Steamers at the Lobster Pound, sun filled days on Ogunquit Beach, and quiet reflection at the Franciscan Monastery and gardens in nearby Kennebunk.

Guy leaves behind his sons Mark and his wife Liz of Winthrop, MA, Glenn and his wife Christine of Groton, MA, and Matthew and his wife Kimberly of Pepperell, MA. He also leaves his grandchildren, Anthony and his partner Magen, Meghan and husband Joseph, Mia and her husband David, Deven, Kayleigh, Ashleigh, and Ryan; also many great grandchildren and 'bonus' grandchildren. Lastly, he leaves his older sister Mary Lambright of Peabody, MA and was predeceased by his loving wife of more than 60 years Amalia (Emily) (nee Limone) Sorrentino and sister Rose Migliozzi of Londonderry, NH.

Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Guy at the Westford Healy Funeral Home, 57 North Main Street, Westford, on Friday, November 14 from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM. His Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM in the Blessed Trinity Parish - St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 107 North Main Street, Westford. Burial in the Groton Cemetery.
