James Michael Barrett Jr., 64, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and closest friends on August 16, 2024 at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, after a courageous battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Born in Groton, Massachusetts, on March 28, 1960 he was a son of James M. Barrett, Sr. of The Villages, Florida who survives him and the late Barbara (Elson) Barrett.
Jim was raised in Westford, and was a 1978 graduate of Westford Academy. Surviving him besides his father are his daughter Jennie Lovasco and her husband Timothy of Rochester, New Hampshire; his son Cameron Barrett and his wife Elizabeth of Derry, New Hampshire; his five grandchildren; Ava, Timothy JR., and Josephine Lovasco; Lyla and Jack Barrett; his sister Linda Hill and her husband Bob of Tyngsboro, Massachusetts; his brother Timothy Barrett and his wife Diana of Vienna, Austria; his sister Shelley Barrett of The Villages, Florida; his brother Brandon Barrett and his wife Suzanne of Bedford, New Hampshire; his companion Heidi Schmid of Sarasota, Florida; and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his nephew Jon Barrett.
Jim was an avid golfer, skier, hunter, fisherman, outdoorsman, and had a passion for history and music. Throughout his adventurous life, Jim thrived at his career in insurance sales, and outdoor pool remodeling.
He thoroughly enjoyed time spent with his lifelong friends, Bill Antonelli and his wife Judy, Jeff Meikle and his wife Elaine, Andy Everleigh, his wife Jill, and their family, Rodney Lippold, Bill Eurich, Jim Basnett and partner Kathy, Glen Secor and wife Ro, Paul Macintosh and welcomed many other close friends and acquaintances throughout his journey.
Memories he shared at Moosehead Lake in Rockwood, Maine with family and friends were cherished deeply by Jim. The love and dedication he effortlessly displayed for his children, their spouses, and watching his grandchildren grow was admirable, as he was very proud to be their ‘Harry’
Jim’s kind, loving, tenacious, funny, and magnetic personality will be missed by the countless lives he was very much a part of. His strength, courage and determination to overcome any obstacle presented to him, and his willingness to complete one good deed a day spoke to Jim’s larger than life character. He wore many hats to his loved ones left behind and was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend who will be incredibly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to Jim's Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Friday, August 23, 2024 at 10:00 AM in Blessed Trinity Parish - St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 107 North Main Street, Westford. Burial will be private. The family kindly requests you join them for a celebration of Jim's remarkable life on Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 1 until 5 PM at the Atkinson Resort and Country Club, 85 Country Club Drive, Atkinson, NH 03811.
