James P. Driscoll, a resident of Ayer and formerly of Westford, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 26, 2026, at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, MA surrounded by his family.
Born in Haverhill, MA on February 27, 1965 James was the son of the late James P. and Catherine Patricia “Pat” (Carney) Driscoll. He grew up in the Nabnassset section of Westford and graduated from Westford Academy in 1983. He attended Middlesex Community College and graduated from the Peterson School for HVAC. He worked for the Cunha Family /Specialty Drink Concepts of Westford and then went on to work for Pepsi for over 35 years.
Throughout his life Jim maintained a very close knit circle of friends that meant the world to him – within that circle was his second family , The Kitner’s. The loss of Luke, and especially his dear friend Matt Kitner in 2022 was deeply saddening.
Jim was also an integral part of his sister Cathy’s life, he would say black she would say white but he knew he could always count on her for everything; they always had each other’s back . From campaigning to fixing her floral cooler to a multitude of memories that can’t be replaced. He just didn’t like it when she called him “Jim- Jim” which was his childhood nickname. - The Clark family also had a particular fondness for Jim who always appreciated not just his cooking at the holidays but his humor.
Jim had many interests and enjoyed simple pleasures, an avid fisherman he loved spending time on the water with his friend Jeff Jackson, he also enjoyed trips to Las Vegas and relaxing with a good cigar. Known for his talented cooking abilities , his seafood dishes among others his friends knew they could count on for sensational catering. Jim’s love of animals extended to his dog Lucky his son had growing up. Above all Jim cherished his son Jimmy and always looked forward to attending his hockey games. Jim was also a gifted storyteller, with a wonderful sense of humor. Rather than reading books to Jimmy when he was young he preferred to tell him stories of his own. He was happy to be able to attend his college graduation and then his wedding in Fla.
Jim was known for his wonderful sense of humor and his creative & brilliant mind. In 2007 he developed and produced pizza ovens on the grill . Music was another passion and while he enjoyed a variety of genres, he was a deadhead at heart especially loving the Greatful Dead but still also loved Sinatra.
Jim is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jimmy Driscoll and Maggie McMullen Driscoll of Berlin , MD, his sister Cathy and brother-in-law Mike Clark of Lunenburg, his nieces and nephew, Kara Clark Hamar and her husband James of Watertown, MA, Jillian O’Brien and her husband Deven of Blufton, SC , Michael Clark Jr. of Lunenburg and Sara Hartmann and her husband Alex of Salem, MA. He is also survived by a multitude of cousins.
The family would like to thank in particular Jim’s close friend Vic Neal who was there for him throughout his life & illness, and the rest of his dear friends who will miss him greatly.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jim's family at the Westford Healy Funeral Home, 57 North Main Street, on Saturday, November 7, 2026 from 9:00 until 11:00 AM. A reception will follow at 12:00 Noon at Nabnasset Lake Country Club, 47 Oak Hill Road, Westford.
