James P. Mulligan

James P. Mulligan, 83, of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2012 after an extended illness. Jim was born in Lowell MA. September, 14 1929 and was a longtime resident of Forge Village MA. He was a 1948 graduate of Westford Academy. He served with the United States Army of Occupation in Germany assigned to the U.S. Constabulary and with the 14th Armored Cavalry patrolling the border in the "Fulda Gap" between Russia and Germany. He was an "Original Cold Warrior". Prior to his retirement, Jim worked for many years at MIT-Lincoln Labs as a Quality Control Inspector. In his free time Jim enjoyed researching his family history, working on his yard and had an avid interest in the weather. He was a member of the Westford American Legion Post 159 and the U.S. Constabulary Association. He leaves his loving wife, Betty "McDowell" Mulligan of Nashua NH, his son, Kevin Mulligan of Nashua NH and Co.Clare Ireland, a brother, Patrick Mulligan of Westminster, VT, sisters, Jane Mahoney of Mobile, AL, Eleanora Bohenko of Portsmouth, NH, Anne Vullo and her husband Bill of Westford MA., Patricia Holmes of Westford MA. and many nieces, nephews and cousins. James is predeceased by his parents James and Leonora (Caron) Mulligan, his siblings, Francis and John Mulligan and Sheila Rugo. His nephews Tommy Rugo and Jeffery Bohenko.Friends are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at the J.A. Healy Sons Funeral Home. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Catherine of Alexandria Church on Friday at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery, Westford.Donations in lieu of flowers may be made in Jim's name to The Westford Museum & Historical Society P.O. Box 411, 2-4 Boston Road, Westford, MA 01886.
