JoAnne Cotter, age 84, of Westford, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 22, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
She was the beloved wife of the late John F. Cotter, with whom she shared 35 wonderful years of marriage. John passed away in 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer, and JoAnne lovingly cared for him until his passing. Together, they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and family, and especially cherished their time traveling together, creating many happy memories along the way.
Born in Boston on November 25, 1941, JoAnne was the daughter of Joseph and Virginia (Repetti) Vassalli and was raised in South Boston. She later made her home in Billerica for many years before moving to Westford.
JoAnne’s greatest joy was her family. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she treasured time spent with her two children and six grandchildren, who were the true joy of her life.
She is survived by her children, Matthew Cotter and his wife Tatiana, and Karen (Cotter) Clark and her husband Christopher, all of Westford, MA; her six beloved grandchildren, Mia, Shane, and Nolen Clark, and Emma, Sofie, and Jack Cotter; her brother, Michael Vassalli and his wife Kathy of Braintree; along with many extended family members and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass, which will be celebrated on Monday, December 29, at 10:00 AM at Blessed Trinity Parish - St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 107 N. Main Street, Westford. Burial will follow at Fox Hill Cemetery in Billerica.
