Joseph Stepinski

July 22, 1944 — September 16, 2012

Joseph Stepinski, 68, of Tyngsboro passed away Sunday, September 16 at his home surrounded by his family members. He fought a courageous eleven year battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Edward and Boleslawa Stepinski of Westford. He attended Westford Schools and celebrated his fiftieth class reunion in May at the Nabnasset Lake Country Club. Following his graduation from Westford Academy he attended East Coast AeroTech. He then enlisted in the Air Force for four years where he attained the rank of sergeant. He was stationed in many European countries and finished his last year of service in Incirlik, Turkey. After leaving the military Joseph was employed by NorthEast Airlines featuring Yellow Bird Aircraft. He then was employed by M & G Convoy as a Teamster. Finally, his last employment was with the MBTA as a repairman specialist for the Greenline. He retired after 23 years. Joseph was a devoted outdoorsman and avid sportsman. He was a member of the Washington NH SnowRiders, the Lowell YMCA, and a former member of the Plum Island Surf Casters. He was also a lifetime member of the Westford Sportsmen Club. His hobbies included striper fishing on his Key West, boating off Plum Island, gardening, skiing, snowmobiling, swimming in Lake Ashuelot in Washington, NH. But more Importantly was his love for his family. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia (Foley) Stepinski, and two children Catherine Stepinski of Groton and Mathew Stepinski of Bennington, NH, as well as several cousins and many friends. The family would like to thank the Mass General Cancer Center at Emerson Hospital ? Bethke for their support and encouragement throughout the years especially Dr. Jon Dubois who treated Joseph for many years. The family would also like to extend their appreciation to Affinity Hospice for their comfort and support.Friends and relatives may call Wednesday, September 19 from 6pm - 8pmat the J. A. Healy Sons Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, September 20 at 10am with burial to follow at Saint Catherine Cemetery in Westford.
