AYER - Judith Marie (Lacombe) Dumont (83) Loving Wife, Mother, Mémé, and devout Catholic passed away peacefully in her sleep during the early morning hours of November 8th, 2023 a result of a catastrophic brain infection she suffered after routine heart surgery, four and a half years ago. Her soul has finally been set free.
Judy was born in Lowell, Massachusetts, to the late Joseph and Antoinette (Lessard) Lacombe on August 28, 1940. She married Clément Dumont on May 24, 1969. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary the year before Clem passed away.
Judy was an incredibly hard worker. Barely a teenager, she began working to help her family make ends meet. Her work life began at H.H. Scott in Maynard, she also worked at Digital Corporation, J.P. Sullivan Apples, The Lowell Sun, Diagnostic Instrument Corporation, The Groton School, along with the public-school systems in the Towns of Ayer and Harvard as a cafeteria worker, a job she absolutely loved!
Judy loved her family with all her heart and soul. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She was a selfless person who would do anything for anybody and was incredibly generous, always putting others' needs before her own. She truly enjoyed attending exercise classes taught by Amanda Norton at the senior center and watching her “programs”, especially Days of our Lives, which couldn’t be missed; if you called while it was on, you would undoubtedly get the answering machine! Some of her favorite things to do were road trips to Québec, Canada visiting her and her husband’s relatives, visits to the White Mountains to see her beloved Clark’s Bears, saltwater taffy from Hampton Beach, and annual trips to Mrs. Nelson’s Candy House for Easter treats. She also enjoyed being in her kitchen, preparing feasts for every holiday.
Judy is survived by her three daughters: Joanne and her husband, Miguel Pires, of Leominster; Andrea and her husband, Jeff Greco, of Devens and Suzanne and her husband, Bill Taylor, of Ayer. She also leaves behind five grandchildren: Neve Pires, Talia Pires, Amanda Brady, Brett Greco and his wife Meaghan, and Troy Taylor. Her family also includes two great-grandchildren: Braiden and Anya Greco; a sister-in-law, Francoise Dumont of Québec, Canada; her brother-in-law Renald Poulin of Barnstead, NH, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and her very dear friends, Dottie Vantassel and Kathy Poulsen. Judy also leaves behind her beloved cat, “Munchkin.” In addition to her husband Clem, that passed away in April of 2020, she was also predeceased by her sister Jeannette Poulin, three brothers-in-law: Donat, Benoit, and Morris Dumont, and her precious little dog “Coco”.
Judy’s family would like to thank the staff at Apple Valley, who took such excellent care of her over the last several years.
Relatives and friends are invited to Judy’s calling hours on Thursday, November 16th, from 4PM until 7PM at the Westford Healy Funeral Home, 57 North Main Street, Westford. Graveside services will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, November 17th in St. Catherine Cemetery, Westford.
