Kenneth A. Grimm

January 11, 1932 — April 30, 2015

WESTFORD - Kenneth A. Grimm, age 83, passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2015 at Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Hazel M. (Ward) Grimm who passed away in 2009.

Ken was born in St. Lawrence, South Dakota on January 11, 1932, a son of the late Andrew and Helen (Walraven) Grimm. He was a resident of Westford since 1956 and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Westford. Earlier in his life, he attended the University of N. Dakota where he received a full scholarship to play football. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Prior to his retirement, Ken was a lineman with Mass Electric for thirty-eight years where he only missed one day of work. He was a member and past treasurer of the Lowell Electric Light Employees Credit Union.

He was an avid sportsman and well known in the city of Lowell as an excellent softball pitcher. He was a member of the Lowell Fast Pitch Softball League in the 60's and early 70's and once struck out Eddie "The King" Feigner of the King and His Court. Ken coached many little league teams in Westford and installed lights at Graniteville ball field. He also enjoyed traveling and camping. He once rode cross country on his motorcycle at the age of 64. Above all, he was a wonderful and dedicated father and grandfather and loved nothing more than being with his family.

Ken is survived by his three children, Cindy Williams of Jacksonville, FL, Craig Grimm and his wife Sheila of Westford, and Heidi Eisermann and her husband Ralf of Merrimack, NH.,a brother, Leonard Grimm of Fargo, N. Dakota; seven grandchildren, Kaleigh, Ashley and Chelsea Williams, Cassandra and Karl Eisermann, and Cody and Dylan Grimm; two great grandchildren, Lucas and Skylar; a sister-in-law, Mildred Patterson of Tewksbury; also many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Relatives and friends may call at the J. A. HEALY SONS FUNERAL HOME, 57 N. Main St., WESTFORD, on Saturday, May 9 from 12 noon until 3pm. A prayer service will conclude the visitation at 3 o'clock. Interment will be private at Hillside Cemetery, Westford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to www.givingasha.org or www.stjude.org .
