Margaret (Mosscrop) Latham Murphy, age 86, a long-time resident of Forge Village, died on Monday, October 30, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was a beloved wife, mother and admired by many friends.
She was born in Lowell on November 26, 1936, a daughter of the late Mary “Marea” F. (Kavanagh) and Michael T. Mosscrop. Margaret was very proud to be a life-long resident of Westford, attending the Cameron Grammar School and then graduating from Westford Academy, Class of 1954.
Margaret took great pride in working for the Westford School System, Aetna Insurance Company and Harvard University. While working at Harvard she also attended many Harvard classes. Her favorite class was The History of Boston with Professor Thomas O’Connor.
She was a devoted Catholic and loved singing as a member of the choir at St. Catherine Church and later St. Christopher Parish in Nashua.
Margaret valued her family and cherished being in their company. She enjoyed watching her Westerns, especially the old ones and history related programs. She also liked reading and crosswords.
Margaret is survived and will be deeply missed by her children Ramona Latham and her husband Kelley Sullivan of Gloucester, Mary Latham Craib and her husband Stanley of Florida, William Latham of Nashua, NH, Ellen Latham of Salisbury; her grandson, Keith Crocker of Salisbury; her daughter, Paula Dobens and her husband Michael of Nashua; her brothers, Michael Mosscrop and his wife Beverly and Thomas Mosscrop and his wife Angela; her sister, Kathleen Cronin and her husband Michael; her brother-in-law, Robert Keefe; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was the mother to the late Joseph R. Latham and the grandmother to the late Christina Menzie Barud. She was also predeceased by her beloved sisters, Winifred Keefe, Mary McMurrer and Mary’s husband James.
Relatives and friends are invited to Margaret’s Celebration of Life on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 4 PM until 7 PM at the WESTFORD HEALY FUNERAL HOME, 57 N Main Street, Westford. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at 9 AM at Blessed Trinity Parish - St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, Westford. Burial to follow in St. Catherine Cemetery, Westford.
