Margaret Y. Tu

July 20, 1929 — June 10, 2013

Margaret Tu, age 83, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013 at her home in Westford after an extended illness. She was the beloved wife of Conrad Tu. She was born in Taiwan on July 20, 1929, a daughter of the late Peng Gin-May and Li An-Mae. Margaret was a Westford resident for the past ten years and was formerly of Hackettstown, NJ. Prior to her retirement, she was an assembler at Bates Industries for over ten years. Margaret enjoyed craft hobbies, including sewing custom clothes and knitting blankets, sweaters and other items for family members and for her enjoyment. She also enjoyed jigsaw and word puzzles. Another of her many hobbies was gardening. The typical summer crops in her garden when she lived in Hackettstown consisted of zucchinis, tomatoes, squash, snow peas and sweet corn, among others. In addition, she and Conrad maintained a coop of more than a dozen chickens. There were always plenty of fresh eggs that were still warm when cracked over a frying pan. Margaret was fond of backyard bird watching and her favorite cardinals and blue jays would frequent her bird feeder regularly. She was always willing to do something different and interesting, whether it was a new restaurant or visiting another country, she was ready for the adventure. She traveled extensively and always wanted to know when everyone could go on another cruise vacation. Margaret was a happy person, she always had a big smile to greet everyone she met. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. Besides her husband, Conrad, she is survived by three sons, Sampson Tu of Westford, Donald Tu and his wife Nicole Chen of Gillette, NJ, and Steve Tu of Manchester, CT; four grandchildren, Kelley and Jason Tu and Chani and Kacie Tu; also many extended family members in Taiwan. Relatives and friends may call at the J. A. Healy Sons Funeral Home on Friday, June 14, from 4 until 8pm.Her Funeral Service will be held privately with cremation to follow.
