Mary Anne Catherine Taylor

Mary Anne Catherine (Stevens) Taylor, died peacefully on September 20, 2026, at the age of 89, after facing cancer with courage and grace.

Born June 11, 1937, she grew up in Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn, New York, where to her mother she was always "Goody." After high school she studied at the Mandl School for Medical Office Assistants, where she earned the Medal for General Excellence. She began her career working in medical offices, then went on to become a purchasing agent for technology companies, bringing diligence and good nature to everything she did.

Her childhood summers were spent in Leeds, New York, at the home of her grandparents, known to all as Motherdear and Fatherdear. Fatherdear would drive the family up from Brooklyn in his coupe, and her mother, her brother, and a crowd of aunts, uncles, and cousins would all be there together. Most days were spent swimming at Slippery Rock, and a trip to fetch the mail earned her a nickel for ice cream. She always said those summers were the best times of her life.

Mary Anne came from modest beginnings, and she liked to say that she didn't have much growing up, but it didn't feel like it, thanks to the family that surrounded her. That sense of being held and loved became the foundation of her strength. Life handed her more than her share of challenges, and she met every one of them head on, coming through each a little stronger than before.

She was outgoing, and one of her greatest loves was cooking, whether for a family gathering or a lunch with friends. Skilled and adventurous in the kitchen, she often tried out new recipes for the very first time on her guests, and a good meal was her favorite way to bring people together. She stayed active well into her later years with Pilates and hiking, painted in watercolor, and filled her garden with flowers. She loved to dance and loved to travel. Above all she loved her family and her friends, and she made sure they knew it.

She is survived by her sons Kenneth George Cogan and his wife Maureen, and their children Devon and Keara; Michael John Taylor and his wife Karen, and their children David and Danielle; and George Matthew Taylor and his wife Lisa, and their daughter Madeline. She is also survived by her brother George W. Stevens and his wife Melitta; her nephews George and Todd Stevens; her cousin Billy Foster and his wife Jeannine; five stepchildren; and a great many friends who will miss her dearly. She was predeceased by her parents, George Francis Stevens and Mary Catherine (Perry) Stevens; her longtime companion, Mario Zocchi; and, most recently, her dear partner, Ed Beaudoin, who passed away in 2025.

Visiting hours will be held at Westford Healy Funeral Home on Friday, September 25, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. On Saturday, September 26, 2026 family and friends will gather at the funeral home at 10:00 AM for words of remembrance and a blessing, followed by a procession to Pine Grove Cemetery in Westford for burial. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Foundation for Women's Cancer or the Endometrial Cancer Foundation. Friends and family are invited to a luncheon at noon on Saturday.
