Blessed wife, mother, nana, sister, aunt and devoted friend, Mary Frances Michelson, 77, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Your gentle face and patient smile with sadness we recall. You had a kindly work for each and died beloved by all.
Mary Frances was the beloved wife of Leonard L. “Mike” Michelson, with whom she was married to on December 8, 1967.
She was born on August 31, 1948, to Alva C. and Anna L. Marshall (McCutcheon), in Beech Grove, Indiana.
In addition to her husband, Mike, Mary is survived by her son Eric J. Michelson and his wife, Maryellen (Edwards) and her grandson, Seamus of Groton, Massachusetts; her daughter-in-law, Nancy Michelson of North Attleboro, Massachusetts; her grandson, Trevor R. Michelson of Andover, Massachusetts; her niece, Kellie Carter of Lexington, Kentucky; and nephews, Cody Carter of Norfolk, Virginia and Landon Carter of Lexington, Kentucky.
Mary attended Clarksville High School in Clarksville, Indiana. She completed her business college studies graduating from the Sullivan Business College in Louisville, Kentucky. She then worked for the Louisville and Nashville (L&N) Railroad, in Louisville, Kentucky from 1967 to 1975. From 1975 to 1992 Mary accompanied her husband, a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force, to bases in Montana, California, New Mexico and Massachusetts. She joined the Government Civil Service in 1976 and served as a cost and financial analyst until 1988, transitioning to a civilian career. She last worked for Coldwell Banker Realty and retired in 2010.
Throughout her life Mary maintained an abiding faith in God the Almighty and his son Jesus Christ. Her faith and the unconditional love and devotion to her family and friends was obvious to all who knew and worked with her. She met all of life’s challenges with confidence, determination and incredible grace. She loved to cook and was exceptional. She taught herself to knit and provided her family with soft warm sweaters and scarves. Her focus was always on the well-being of her family and friends, as well as taking great pride in her work for both in the Government and civilian sectors. To say that she will be missed forever is truly an understatement.
You are not forgotten, nor will you ever be, if life and memory last, we will remember thee. Your loving smile, your gentle face, no one can fill your vacant place.
Per Mary’s wishes, all services were held privately.
