Matthew N. MacDonald

Fitchburg - “A free spirit is not bound by this, that, matter, materialism or opinion. They sing, dance and flow on the wind — for they are at one with it. They are nothing and everything — void and expanse. Even space and time does not confine or define them. For they are pure energy itself.”  

Matt was a free spirit not bound by anything. He passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022. Born in Milford, MA on December 4, 1997 he was a son of Michelle Fantini of Framingham and Michael and Kathy MacDonald of Fitchburg.

Matt grew up in Westford and graduated from Westford Academy. Following high school he set out to see this country. He visited 44 states and had adventures in every one. Matt camped out at South Lake Tahoe, hiked the Appalachian trail, worked at a salmon packing plant in Alaska and on a fishing boat in Florida which was one of his favorite experiences. Matt ran track in high school and continued to run marathons for fun. Matt knew statistics for many sports, especially hockey. He loved hockey and looked forward to playing deck hockey with his friends. Matt was extremely witty and had a joke for every situation. His fashion statement was Pj's and he wore them everywhere. 

Surviving him besides his parents are sisters and brothers, Mikayla Schmider and her husband Curtis of Groton, Marissa MacDonald of Lowell, Zachary McIntyre of Lowell, Brendan Gasper of Westford; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to Matt's celebration of life on Thursday, December 8th from 4 until 8 PM in the Westford Healy Funeral Home, 57 North Main Street. His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private.
