Muriel C. Shirar

WESTFORD - Mrs. Muriel C. (Campbell) Shirar, 86, passed away Friday, October 9th at her home with her family by her side.

Muriel was born November 17, 1928 in New Haven, Connecticut a daughter of the late Dr. Sherburn and Ethel (Ayre) Campbell.

At a young age, Muriel lived and was educated in Meriden, Connecticut. She later graduated from Lesley University, where she received her degree in education, working as a teacher in the school departments in Hanover, NH, Denver, CO., Quincy, Ma, Littleton, Ma., and Lawrence, Ma., where she taught kindergarten and the Chapter One program.

After marrying Gerard, she accompanied her husband, as he served in the U.S. Army in various post throughout the world. She was an avid quilter who loved life and touched the hearts of many people.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Gerard Shirar, her two daughters, Suzanne Shirar and Janet Lahme, a sister, Gwen Gordon; four grandchildren, Jeffrey Wilder, Shirar Paterson, Morgan Lahme, and Michael Lahme; three great grandsons, Cale and Wade Paterson, and Nolan Wilder.

Her funeral service will be on Wednesday October 14th at St Mark Episcopal Church, 75 Cold Spring Rd. Westford, MA. 01886 at 10:00am. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Westford. There will be no visiting hours. Funeral arrangements under the direction of J.A. Healy Funeral Home, Westford,Ma.
