Peter F. Gibbs

ACTON - Peter F. Gibbs, age 86, a longtime resident of Wellesley, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 26, 2017, at Life Care Center of Acton after a long illness. For 60 years, he was the husband of the late Marlene E. (Schaier) Gibbs who passed away in July, 2016.He was born in Hampstead, England on August 18, 1931, the son of the late William and Florence (Cook) Gibbs. He served in the Royal Air Force in England. Peter had a long and distinguished career in the business and finance industry. He started in England in banking, then attended Northeastern University and received an MBA at the Harvard Business School after marrying Marlene. Peter was always active, enjoying mountain climbing, jogging and bike riding and in his latter years gardening, trips to Cape Cod and walks with Marlene. Spending time with his wife and family was the most important part of his life.He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Scott Hazelton of Westford; three grandchildren, Andrew, Sarah and James Hazelton all of Westford; a sister-in-law, Martha Thorington and her husband, Taylor, of Tampa, FL; a niece and nephew, Laura Bolan of Alabama and John Thorington of Tampa, FL; also several cousins in England.ARRANGEMENTS - Relatives and friends may call at the J. A. HEALY SONS FUNERAL HOME, 57 N. Main St., WESTFORD, on Saturday, Nov. 4, from 2 until 3:30pm. A Prayer Service will conclude the visitation at 3:30pm. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Challenge Unlimited at Ironstone Farm, 450 Lowell St., Andover, MA 01810.
