Ralph E. Edmunds, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at the age of 83. Born in Brighton, MA on October 15, 1942, he was the son of the late Mildred (Gillen) and Walter Edmunds.
After graduating high school, Ralph proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He later built a long and respected career as a master plumber in the greater Boston area before retiring.
A devoted and enthusiastic vegetable gardener, Ralph spent countless hours planning, cultivating, and tending to his beloved garden. He generously shared his abundant harvest with friends and family, and his passion for experimenting with new tomato varieties earned him the affectionate nickname “The Tomato Whisperer.”
Ralph was a lifelong member of the Nashoba Sportsman’s Club in Acton, where he cherished the camaraderie and enduring friendships formed through trap shooting, hunting, and fishing. He was also an avid reader of science fiction, with a particular love for the works of J.R.R. Tolkien.
Ralph is survived by his two daughters: Dawna Spain of New Hampshire and her partner, Eric Klesper, and Debbi Yates of California; his granddaughter, Sam “Elfie” Marcewicz; his sister, Millie Bornas and her partner, Tim Hanson of Mashpee; along with several great-grandchildren, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Marcewicz, and his niece, Dianne Campbell.
Relatives and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday. May 26, 2026, from 4 until 7 PM at the WESTFORD HEALY FUNERAL HOME, 57 N Main Street, Westford. Military Honors will be rendered at 6:45 PM in the funeral home. Gift donations in lieu of flowers can be made in his name at MGH Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy Researchat: https://giving.massgeneral.org/donate. Burial will be held privately.
A Celebration of Life for family and friends to share memories will take place on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 3 until 7 PM at the Nashoba Sportsman’s Club, 908 Main Street, Acton.
