Born in Boston on July 20, 1936, Robert was the son of the late Harold and Irene (Carson) Parsons. He grew up in the Pinehurst section of Billerica, where he met Charlotte, the love of his life, while they were students in junior high school. Together, they built a life filled with love, family, and memories. This November 23rd, they would have celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary.

Robert attended the former Somerville Trade High School, where he learned the typesetting trade. He worked for the Courier-Citizen until the late 1970s, when he began working for the Town of Westford, retiring as head custodian. He also served the community as a call firefighter and an EMT in Westford where he was a member of the Company 3 Call Department, and retired as Lieutenant and received the Meritorious Service Award. He also worked for American Ambulance in Lowell as an EMT. After retiring, Robert spent many years working for Dee Bus Company driving a school bus in Westford, a job he thoroughly enjoyed.

A man with many interests and talents, Robert especially loved HO-scale trains and created an elaborate train layout in his basement. His grandchildren fondly remember spending time with their grandfather, operating the trains together. He was a member of Middlesex County and Amherst Model Railroad Clubs. Robert also had a flair for entertaining and performed with the Westford Players and First Foot Guards Reenacting Group as a surgeon and also performed pantomime at many Masonic events, bringing laughter and enjoyment to those around him. His membership within the Masons included Aleppo Shrine where he served as Captain of the Medical Corps, Scottish Rite Masons - 32 MSA, Medical Corps, Thomas Talbot Lodge Billerica where he was past Master, Tahattawan Lodge Littleton where he was past Master, recipient of the Joseph Warren Medal, Demolay - Charter Member of Billerica Demolay, past Master Councilor, Demolay - Co-Founder of the Nashoba Chapter of Demolay and chapter advisor, Rainbow where he served as advisor, Eastern Star - Past Patron of Ida McKinley Eastern Star, International Order of Odd Fellows, Billerica where he was past District Deputy.

Robert’s second love was the Anchor Club, also known as Anchorage, on Lake Winona in New Hampton, New Hampshire, where he was past president and served as secretary for 45 years. He and his family spent their summer vacations there, creating lasting memories and friendships.

Robert and Charlotte were active and devoted members of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Westford, where they helped the congregation grow from a mission church into the thriving community it is today. He served as Crucifer, Greeter, Thurifer, Acolyte, and Eucharistic Minister. Their commitment to the church and its community was an important part of their lives.

In addition to his wife, Charlotte, Robert leaves behind his four children and their families: Donald and Beth Parsons of Westford; Judith Parsons Clark of Westford; Debra and Steve Sullivan of Chelmsford; and Philip and Sandy Bovin of Maple Grove, Minnesota. He also leaves six grandchildren: Eric Parsons, Noah and Nate Psilopoulos, Emily Trubey, and Sabreena and Parker Bovin; as well as his sister-in-law, Marion Perreault of Deering, New Hampshire.
