William V. "Bill" Cady

October 7, 1947 — October 3, 2019

William "Bill" V. Cady, Jr., age 71, passed away on October 3, 2019 at his home in Singer Island, FL surrounded by his children and friends. He leaves behind family and many friends who remember him fondly as a long-time Chelmsford firefighter, and the owner of many motor vehicles (too many for anyone, including him, to count) and boats (docked at Lake Winnipesaukee, Danversport Marina and Singer Island).

Most of importantly he was good friend to many and a good father to his son William V. Cady III and his daughter Lisa L. Cady. He always found time to call and visit family and friends, and he was always there when you needed him. He was also a devoted son who talked with his mother, Helen Krebs, nearly every single day.

Bill was a firefighter for the Chelmsford, MA Fire Department for 30 years and retired in 2000. He received a degree from Middlesex Community College in fire safety and became one of their instructors. During his tenure with the Chelmsford Fire Department he served as the union president and was an advocate of children's fire safety. In addition to being a firefighter, he had many side jobs including owning a painting company (Shamrock Painting) and managing the Glenview Lounge in Chelmsford.

He was born in Woburn, MA on October 7, 1947 to William Cady (deceased) and Helen Krebs. He was raised in Woburn and moved to Westford during high school where he graduated from Westford Academy in 1967. He married Jody Eldridge in 1967 and had two children: William in 1968 and Lisa in 1972. He remained a Chelmsford area resident until moving to Singer Island, FL with his companion Anne Pollicelli (deceased) following his retirement where they both enjoyed the daily life of beach and Florida waves.

He is survived by his son William V. Cady III of San Diego, CA and his sons Cory and Danny; his daughter Lisa L. Cady of Austin ,TX and her son Kameron; his mother Helen Krebs; siblings Sandra Almeida and John Krebs; nephews and nieces Stephen Doughty, Christopher Doughty, Timothy Doughty, Anna Krebs and Nicholas Krebs; Gerry and Lyn Mills, Philip Mills and Christoper Mills along with several cousins.

Family and friends may gather to honor and remember Bill at the J.A. HEALY SONS FUNERAL HOME, 57 N. Main St., WESTFORD on Friday, October 25 from 4 to 8 p.m. A burial service will be held on Saturday, October 26 at 10 am at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Westford. A Celebration of Life will follow at the Chelmsford Elks Club from 12 to 4 pm. Please bring a photograph or memory of Bill for the celebration, which the family can keep as a remembrance. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to two organizations that Bill cared deeply about: the SAFE Education Program and the 911 Memorial Fund. Donations for both organizations can be sent to the Chelmsford Fire Department, 50 Billerica Road, Chelmsford, MA 01824.
