William J. Tannahill, age 77, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 8, 2025 surrounded by his family. He was the beloved husband of the late Susan G. (Caddy) Tannahill, until her passing in 2002.
He was born in Woburn on November 2, 1947, and was the son of the late Edith (Taylor) and William Tannahill. One of William’s proudest accomplishments was his graduation from Norwich University and later proudly serving his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He believed in giving back to and still being actively involved in his alma mater, where he honored the motto “I Will Try!”
William was a man who desired to live according to Christ’s teachings and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Westford as well as their men’s group.
With faith came family and after losing his wife suddenly, he cherished even more the time spent with his son and later the joy of his grandchildren.
William is survived by his son, Michael W. Tannahill and his wife, Heather of Westford; his four grandchildren, Landon, Addyson, Cooper and Alistair; his sister, Marilyn Scarvalas and her husband, Christopher of Woburn; as well as many extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to William’s memorial service on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 10 AM at the UNITED METHODIST CHURCH OF WESTFORD, 10 Church Street, Westford. Burial to follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Westford. A luncheon will immediately follow in the church’s hall that all are invited to attend.
