Lawrence Shea

Lawrence Ingalls Shea, 80, of Westford died June 3, 2011 at Willow Manor Nursing Home in Lowell, MA after a prolonged illness. Born May 12, 1931, a son of the late Raymond and Ethel (Ingalls) Shea. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie (Davis) Shea of nearly 60 years. Also, four sons; Stephen and his wife Sherry of McKinney, TX; Raymond of Douglas, MA, Sheldon and his wife Claire of Fitchburg and Quintin of Westford; a daughter Nadine Watton and her husband Fred of Oxford, CT. Also, by eleven grandchildren; Five great-grandchildren; and one sister, Lois (Shea) Kennedy of East Hampton, Ma. As well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one brother Russell Melvin Shea. Mr. Shea was a proud twenty year veteran of the U.S. Navy Seabees and received many military awards including the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the Korean Service Metal, the National Defense Service Metal, the Vietnam Service Metal, the Navy Achievement Metal and the United Nations Service Metal. He was a member of the Dunstable Evangelical Congregational Church having served on various boards and committees. He was a sixty six year member of the Grange; a member of Dunstable Grange and Minuteman Pomona; past master of the former Westford Grange and Middlesex North Pomona; a member Emeritus of the Mass State Grange Agricultural Committee and a member of the National Grange. Mr. Shea was dedicated to his family and enjoyed tinkering with tractors and small engine repair in his leisure time. He was also a Master coffee maker.
brA memorial service will be held Saturday July 9, 2011 at 11:00 am, in the Union Swallow School, Dunstable Center.
